Any reputable paint supplier will encourage you to use a primer. First off, the paint will adhere to the wall better, look cleaner and smoother and give you more accurate color. They can actually tint the primer so you only need one can of paint and one can of tinted primer to do a 12x12 space. You should buy all the paint at the same time because when they mix the paint there is no guarentee that it will ever come out exactly the same. If you have two cans of paint you should mix them together in one large 5 gallon bucket (available at most hardware stores).Steps to prepare a white wall for painting with a light bage color?
Beige isn't far off from white and they are both light colors therefore priming should not be needed. Primer is normally need when a stain or color would easily ';bleed'; through, for instance if you were painting the beige over a red color THEN you would need to prime first.

So, no primer and buy all the paint you need right now, so the colors match perfectly.
White to beige doesn't seem that much of a transition, but it's enough that unless primed first it will require two coats. I always go ahead and prime to be on the safe side and make sure it's washable in case of day to day mishaps...I have grandchildren and pets so it's a given something is going to get dirty. I use Kilz primer tinted the same color as my paint and it works out pretty well.
just plant bomb with white paint in and hay prestto u got white wall. dddooooohhh
I think you would do white primer. When we from a light wall to a dark wall we used a primer the same color as the paint. Most paint stores will help you out. Some even give you samples of paint so you can get an idea of how it will look.
