What is the recommended height of mounting a painting on a wall?

The middle of the painting should be eye level with the average height of the viewers. If you are of average height, just use your eye line as a guide. I am really short so I always hang mine slightly higher than my eye line. What is the recommended height of mounting a painting on a wall?
Whatever suits your fancy, my friend. However, for smaller paintings, display at eye level...your eye level. If you're like that loon, Yoko Ono, then you might want to consider affixing the image to the ceiling with a magnifying glass dangling beside it.What is the recommended height of mounting a painting on a wall?
The statistical average of eye level if 62';. It is short for a 6 foot man, but just right for a small grandmother who visits your space/gallery/home.

The center of the artwork would be 62';.
