Is primer necessary before painting new wall?

Before painting new drywall, is it necessary to first apply a layer of primer? What would happen if primer is not used?Is primer necessary before painting new wall?
Yes it is. If you don't prime before you paint, the paint will quickly peel off the walls. Is primer necessary before painting new wall?
Yes, it is, if you want a nice paint job. The drywall surface and the mud in the joints and over screw heads will absorb paint differently. Primer seals these mudded areas and gives the paint a consistent base to adhere to. Without it, you'll see a difference in texture when you paint. Depending on your colour, that can even look like a different colour on those areas.
YES prime a new wall... the one post said he owned 6 houses well he never stayed in one long enough to see results...liquid will absorb(so pigment never adheres) into wood or drywall and starts peeling and cracking/flaking.....when you prime it... get them to tint it the color of your paint if your paint if it is not white it will make your job 1 coat after priming and it will last.without primer 2 coats, maybe more and bet you wont even get a year out of it espesially if you have to clean it with a sponge or rag.
I've owned 6 houses so far, and the paint contractors the builders have used have never primed, just sprayed on the texture and then sprayed on a couple of coats of paint. But if you want to do a good job you can use primer first, and have it tinted to match your finish paint. You'll use less paint that way, and the color will appear much deeper.
Yes. It helps kill any bacteria on the walls, so mold won't grow on it and it also keeps the new paint on the walls.
hi

you must prime the wall or else any paint will dry too quick and peel

paint on some watered down pva glue first
Your fine with just one coat........nothing will happen if you have a good paint............I don't think I have ever primed a new sheetrock wall my entire life. Good luck
