How to I remove wallpaper paste from a wall for painting?

First pull off the top layer of the wallpaper, depending on the condition and the quality of the paper this could be very easy or a real pain, this should leave you with only the backing of the wallpaper on the wall.

Second, I have had the best results with Zinnsser, with either a bucket and sponge or a spray bottle, mix Zinnsser as instructed, using warm water, wet down the backing left on the wall. Let stand for about 5 minutes and scrape off. I suggest you get a wallpaper scraper. Do not force the backing of the way, just rewet and then scrape again.

Third after you have removed all the backing and glue, with a clean sponge or rag, wipe the walls down again to remove any remaining glue.

Zinner can be found at most hardware stores and paint stores. How to I remove wallpaper paste from a wall for painting?
worked for me....using a steam machine after perforating the paste backed paper with a tool purchased for this purpose from a home reno- type place steamed and putty knife......if it is newer paper once you peel off the patterned portion of the paper the underpaper....use a spray bottle with warm water and spray the paper until saturated and should peel right up and wipe down wall after to remove the excess glue....goood luck
