How do you get masking tape to NOT leak through when painting a wall, next to a wall not to be painted?

I believe you have to have look into 3 things. Firstly you need to have the right tape, I understand that there is painters tape that might be better to use. Secondly my experience tells me that it is better to paint away from the tape rather than towards it. Painting away from it reduces the chances that you will have paint leak under it. Thirdly make sure that the surface you have the tape on is completely clean and flat. If there is any imperfections on the service the slight rise in the tape will cause you to have paint go underneath it. best of luck. How do you get masking tape to NOT leak through when painting a wall, next to a wall not to be painted?

If you get paint on the tape, it will seep through to the back.

Invest in a high-quality brush, and don't go too small, get a 3'; or 3 1/2'; brush--I like Purdy brushes myself. The bristles are high quality and tapered at the end. Then smooth the paint up to the tape, but not on it. When you become practiced at this, you won't even need the tape.
Use painters tape and ensure a firm seal b/w tape and wall.
It will not leak if u use duct tape AND masking thape, put the masking tspe first
Don't use masking use painters tape
Use blue painters tape. Masking tape is not made for painting.
